History
About two miles away from the hotel sits the 13th-century Inverlochy Castle, which the hotel was named after. William Scarlett, 3rd Baron Abinger, built the baronial mansion in 1863. In 1873 Queen Victoria spent a week at Inverlochy, recognizing it as having never seen a more romantic spot. In 1944 Joseph Hobbs, a Canadian entrepreneur bought the estate; he also owned the nearby Ben Nevis distillery. When Hobbs’ son inherited the estate, he transformed the house into a hotel that first welcomed guests in 1969.
