Loch Ness

Discover Loch Ness the famous lake and home of the Loch Ness Monster

Loch Ness

Loch Ness is a long and deep freshwater lake best known as the home of a mysterious creature known as the Loch Ness Monster. The inky black water, shadows below the surface, and waves can create the illusion of long-necked sea-creature. Could Nessie be real? Find out on a cruise of Loch Ness.

Loch Ness is a brooding body of water with a depth of 755 ft and a surface area of 22 sq miles. You can imagine how the stories began; the water has extremely low visibility due to the peat content, and the depth makes it possible for unknown species to survive unseen. Maybe you can spot the monster on a cruise of Loch Ness; Book a Private Tour Scotland and include the Highlands of Scotland.

The existence of a creature was first brought to the world’s attention in 1933 when a couple reported seeing a large sea creature “rolling and plunging” on the surface. Today cruise boats go out into Loch and use modern sonar to track any large object under the water; it is great fun.
