Historic Pub Crawl

Be enlightened and entertained

Discover London’s great historic pubs with a private tour guide with specialist public house and ale knowledge.

  • Time to visit five to six pubs
  • Mini neighbourhood walks
  • Taste local wine, ales and traditional nibbles

There are currently 3,500 pubs in London with around 430 in Westminster. A pub is not just a pub, there are many different species. We have the sports bar style, the trendy gastro, and the family pub. A place to go for all occasions, but we Brits and Irish always have a traditional favourite up our sleeves.

Join your private tour guide for a stroll around London’s little gems, where Charles Dickens drank, where Agatha Christie sets scenes in her novels, or enjoy a pint in Gandalf the Greys' very own hostelry. The pub is owned by Sir Ian McKellen.

Please note: Only suitable for over 18's with a start time of 2 PM with participants having had lunch beforehand. Available Tuesday to Thursday. The weekends tend to be too busy.

The pub attracts humanity in all its forms

Depending on your hotel location the adventure will begin at the nearest interesting and historic pub to your hotel. Although there will be a little walking, the guide will hail London Taxis’ to crawl from one venue to the next. Please note, noon is the best time to start a day version of the tour and 5 pm the evening.

You certainly do not have to drink, but the point is to try different ales, nibbles, local wine and spirits along the way. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face; just keep telling yourself “this is culture” and it is true, the Pub Crawl is culture, a relaxing way to meet new people and escape from the pressure of everyday life.

Every pub you visit will have a few tales. Film star hangouts, haunted pubs with gruesome histories, visit the pub where the Great Train Robbery was planned, the pub where they founded the rules for football (soccer), and pubs with World War Two history, such as the French House where General de Gaulle met members of the French resistance.

All are two, three, four, and five hundred years old, and some with older origins. But, they all have one thing in common, they are escape pods for the 21st-century bricklayer, banker, accountant, butcher, carpenter, baker, film star, stage actor, business executive, Oligarch, dancer, and tourist. The point is, the PUB, attracts humanity in all its forms.
