Discover Scotney Castle in the heart of Kent, the garden of England
Discover Scotney Castle in the heart of Kent, the Garden of England, on a driver-guided tour.
Scotney Castle is a 14th Century romantic ruin, surrounded by a moat and gardens. It is a reminder of the days when the wooded valleys between London and the coast were hostile, full or undesirables hiding out, raiding and robbing. Fortified homes popped up with designs to keep occupants safe - Scotney is one such place.
The earliest records show a property lived on the site in 1137. From 1778 the Hussey family were residence until it was passed on to the National Trust in 1970.
While touring the gardens of Southern England, such as Sissinghurst Castle and Great Dixter, stop at Scotney and have our Tour Designers plan a beautiful picnic on the grounds overlooking the moat and castle.
If you prefer to take things a little slower, stroll around the 770 acres of rolling parkland and grounds before continuing your customised tour of England.
