Walk with Wolves Experience

Meet a pack of Wolves, become part of the pack and discover the story of this top predator

Be part of the pack

An extraordinary experience

Meet the pack and become part of the pack—a unique experience for individuals aged 18 and above.

Wolves roamed Britain for thousands of years. The breed was large and formidable. Folk law indicates a sub-species of giant wolves stalking our forests and terrorising villagers.

The truth is that by the time of the Norman conquest a thousand years ago, most wolves had been pushed out of southern England and roamed the hills and thick forests between England and Wales, as well as the Scottish Highlands.

In the uplands of England, Wolves hunted in large numbers in the Anglo-Saxon period. January was known as Wolf Month, and the culling of the predators became mandatory. The sad fact is that the space available for humans, livestock, and wolves in Britain is not ideal. The last wolf in Britain was killed in Scotland in the 1680s, but nobody knows. Making this experience so special.

The wolf story is many thousands of years old

What is the experience like?

The Predator Walking with Wolves experience is limited to small groups, so we join a small group and meet the animals inside their enclosures.

They are incredibly gentle and want to meet you, smell you and sometimes lick you. Your fragrance will now be remembered forever. You are now part of the pack.

If they feel like it, the pack will howl with you to let you know that you are "family" They see the pack as a survival machine and can only thrive as a team.

The so-called Alpha is the protector, ensuring everyone gets a piece of the action and remains safe. He is always the most intelligent and not necessarily the strongest. The term' alpha' is probably outdated, and what you will see is a pack working as one.

You walk these wonderful creatures around their enclosure, and you feel their sheer power and witness their astonishing sense of smell – stopping at a fence to smell a sheep from miles and miles away.

Lastly, you feed them treats and feel how truly gentle they are, and then finish with a tummy rub and a final goodbye. You will want to return and bring your friends; it's a magical experience, and we're proud to include it in our Private Tours of England.
