Take time to enjoy the inspiring beauty of Snowdonia National Park.

See England's famous sights on your journey back to London.

Day 1. Chepstow - Tintern Abbey - Caerphilly

The mighty fortress of Chepstow has guarded the route from England to South Wales for more than nine centuries. So powerful was this castle that it was in use until 1690.

We snake our way through the beautiful Wye Valley to Tintern Abbey. The Abbey is one of the finest relics of the monastic age. These romantic ruins stand in the heart of the beautiful Wye Valley, surrounded by wooded hillsides.

Visit Caerphilly Castle. Often threatened, never taken, this impressive complex of towers, turrets and walls is much the biggest in Wales. Set on 3 artificial islands, surrounded by a 30 acre lake, its fortifications are scarcely rivalled in Europe. Overnight South Wales.

Day 2. Brecon Beacons - Powis Castle - Mountain Tour

Tour the Brecon Beacons National Park to Carreg Cennen Castle. Spectacularly crowning a remote crag 300 ft above the river Cennen, this castle is unmatched as a wild romantic fortress.

Tour the mountains to Powis Castle. The Castle perches on a rock above the world-famous terraced gardens. The gardens feature enormous clipped yews and stunning herbaceous borders, Powis is a real dream. Overnight Mid Wales.

Day 3. Harlech Castle - Portmeirion - Betws Y Coed

Visit the World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle. Towering above Tremadog Bay, this is surely the most dramatic of all of King Edward I's Castles. Climb the towers for stunning views across Snowdonia.

Portmeirion is unashamedly romantic. The village was built by Clough Williams-Ellis and makes the perfect stop for lunch.

You cannot fail to be impressed by the great solitary tower that is Dolwyddelan Castle, built by Llewellyn the Great.

Tour the wooded valleys to Betws Y Coed, a most picturesque spot for riverside walks and afternoon tea. Overnight North Wales.

Day 4. Conwy Castle - Bodnant Gardens

Conwy is the best-preserved medieval fortified town in Britain with battlemented walls and narrow gateways. See the town and King Edward I’s great castle. Climb the towers and explore the interior.

Bodnant Gardens is the finest garden in Wales, renowned for its lily ponds, Italianate terraces and collection of rhododendrons. Overnight North Wales.

Day 5. Snowdonia National Park - Beaumaris Castle

Craggy mountains, steep valleys and jewel-like lakes make up Snowdonia National Park. We can reach the summit of Mount Snowdon by the famous mountain railway, weather permitting.

The outer line of defences of Beaumaris Castle includes twelve towers, two gates and moat. In 1987 Beaumaris was described on the World Heritage List as an historic site of outstanding universal value. Overnight North Wales.

Day 6. Peak District National Park - Chatsworth

Tour the Peak District National Park. We see the patchwork-like fields that make the English countryside famous. Caves, hill-top forts, delightful towns and villages characterize this region.

Visit Chatsworth House, the palatial, ancestral home of the Dukes of Devonshire, featuring the grandest of landscaped gardens, complete with maze, sunken gardens, secluded walks, and the 290ft jet of the Emperor Fountain. Chatsworth's gardens have been used as a film location for the 2005 movie of Jane Austen's 'Pride & Prejudice' and, more recently, for 'The Duchess' starring Keira Knightly. Overnight Cotswold.

Day 7. Cotswold Touring - Blenheim Palace - Oxford

Oxford, often described as 'the city of dreaming spires', is one of the most famous university cities in the world, with its ancient college buildings - many ecclesiastical in design - and its rivers. Enjoy a highlight walking tour of Oxford's most famous college buildings and discover some of the City's secrets.

Have lunch in a traditional country pub and then see some of the villages that make the Cotswolds region famous.

Visit Blenheim Palace, one of the country's largest and most magnificent private homes, and explore the State Apartments, Italian Gardens and parkland designed by the great English landscape gardener Lancelot "Capability" Brown.  Blenheim Palace, home of the Duke of Marlborough, was built on the orders of Queen Anne and was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Return to London.
