Special Interest Tours of London
with a renowned scholar
London is famous for its museums, former residents and unique neighbourhoods. These special aspects of London frequently stimulate our visitors' personal interests in such subjects as art, architecture, archaeology and law. Rarely, when visiting a great city such as London, is there an opportunity for visitors to explore their special interests with the aid of world-class experts, renowned for their scholarship - until now.
We have put together some special interest tours conducted by some of London's academic elite.

Dr. Lawrence Owens, Ph.D.
Specialist subjects: Archaeology, Anthropology, Palaeontology
Lawrence has been involved in archaeology since he was 5 years old, when he carried out his first 'excavation' in the garden! Since reaching adulthood, he has worked in the Middle East, Europe, the Canary Islands, the US, South Africa, Ghana, Peru and Bolivia - completing a Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, a Master's in Human Evolution and a Doctorate in Bioarchaeology along the way.
Lawrence was originally trained as an archaeologist, and is particularly interested in ancient Egypt, the Assyrians, the Classical World, pre-colonial Africa and the Pre-Colombian New World. He currently specialises in the study of human remains - bones, teeth and mummies - and what they can tell us about the societies from which they come. He is passionate about what can be learned from the study of human bones from our distant past and he maintains that "museum collections might as well be a vast collection of paperweights if they are not properly explained and contextualised in terms of the populations which produced them."
Lawrence lectures at Birkbeck College, University of London, and spends several months of every year travelling and working overseas, notably in Peru where he is guest lecturer at the University of Lima (La Villareal). He has lived and worked in London for ten years and is as passionate about the city as he is about his research.
