You and your guide will explore Spitalfields, a district with a fascinating history and a vibrant, contemporary scene. One minute you will be admiring some of London’s finest 18th century houses, and the next you will be plunging into bustling streets with boutique shops, selling London’s up and coming designers. Being on the edge of the City, the area has always attracted immigrant communities, who have added to its rich cultural diversity.

Around two million Jews left Europe between 1881 and 1914, fleeing persecution and economic hardship. Although most boarded ships for the United States, some 150,000 settled in Britain, with large numbers settling in London’s East End, Spitalfields and near the docks where they had arrived.

By 1910, there were 125,000 Jews in less than two square miles around Whitechapel and Spitalfields, often living in conditions of extreme overcrowding. Many immigrants maintained cultural traditions brought from Eastern Europe. Most were employed in the sweat shops of the East End of London, see the places and hear the tales relating to the Jewish community.

End the tour with a walk through Borough Market. This is the perfect market to grab a bite to eat, enjoy top quality tea or coffee and soak up the lively atmosphere.

      And why we do it!

Our aim is always to be an ‘upgrade’ to anything else available, but without going ‘over the top’ with our prices. We started our business by offering simple day tours and deliver them well. It was not long before our clients were asking us to include more services and events – this we took as a compliment and felt it showed they trusted us and had confidence that we would deliver to a high standard, without the fuss.
