    Penshurst Place & Sissinghurst Gardens

Visit one of England’s greatest family-owned stately homes, with history going back over 6 centuries. See the impressive ceiling of the Baron’s Hall. The gardens are made up of yew hedge rooms, each complimenting the different seasons. There is also an adventure playground.

One of the world’s most celebrated gardens, Sissinghurst was created by Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicholson. See the famous ‘white’ garden and climb the ancient Elizabethan tower to Vita’s secret hideaway.

Your personal driver-guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel at 9.00 am. This is the perfect opportunity to discuss any changes you might like to make to your tour. Any tour itinerary we suggest is flexible and can be altered to suit your individual requirements, even on the day.

The 14th century stately home of Penshurst Place is the ancestral residence of the Sidney family. The Baron’s Hall is an impressive room and entrance to the rest of the house. Those visiting cannot help but stand still and look up at the ceiling. The chestnut beams contribute to the overall picture of what this great hall would have looked like all those centuries ago. Evidence of the original 14th century glass can be seen in the Minstrels’ Gallery window above the hall. The State Dining Room, Tapestry Room, Long Gallery and the Nether Gallery display a vast collections of paintings, armoury and artefacts.

The gardens of Penshurst Place have been fully functional since the 14th century. With 48 acres of ground, including 11 acres of formal wall garden the place creates a haven within Kent, particularly on a summer’s day. The Union Jack Flag Garden contains 2000 roses to mark the millennium.

Close by is Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, perfect for those wishing to experience a countryside day out! Purchased in 1930 for £12,375, the run-down estate was bought and redesigned to incorporate the gardens which can be seen today. It takes the gardeners 10 hours to mow the lawn each week and around 30 man-weeks are required to cut the hedges in early autumn. Dating back to 16th century, the Elizabethan Tower was named after Queen Elizabeth I climbed to the top.

    And why we do it!

Our aim is always to be an ‘upgrade’ to anything else available, but without going ‘over the top’ with our prices. We started our business by offering simple day tours and deliver them well. It was not long before our clients were asking us to include more services and events – this we took as a compliment and felt it showed they trusted us and had confidence that we would deliver to a high standard, without the fuss.
