Surrey
At one time, Surrey encompassed a huge swathe of southern England immediately south of the River Thames. Nowadays, it is generally regarded as the county south of the Greater London area. Often overlooked by guidebooks, it harbours many hidden gems and secret attractions. It was much favoured by the royal dynasties of English history, particularly for its lush landscape, abundant wildlife, and fertile soil. These features, and its central position on the South Downs with easy access to the capital are advantages that can be enjoyed by the intrepid visitor of today.
