Hampshire
The county of Hampshire stretches from the Thames Valley down to the south coast. Magnificent stately homes combine with beautiful countryside and historic cities such as Winchester, once capital of England. Nautical buffs can explore the historic dockyards of Southampton, where the ill-fated Titanic set sail 100 years ago, and Portmouth, which contains the salvaged remains of Henry VIII's warship The Mary Rose, Lord Nelson's flagship The Victory and The Warrior, once the fastest and most powerful warship the world had ever seen.
